**Lamprey**

The lamprey, often mistaken for its close relative the eel due to their similar appearance, distinguishes itself by its smaller size and unique feeding habits. Unlike eels, lampreys do not feed on blood but rather thrive on organic matter. Typically residing in the mid to upper reaches of streams and rivers, these creatures grow to an approximate length of 20cm.
