There's a running joke that if you ever find yourself on Byukgye Island, the first thing you must do is have a bowl of makgeolli Knowledge Item. At Byukgye Island, sharing a bowl of makgeolli is how one breaks the ice with others, allowing people to open up and talk to one another.
