Meju Ghost

A child who hated the smell of meju, a bundle of fermented beans, would hide the family's stock whenever he had the chance. His exasperated parents devised this myth of the Meju Ghost to discourage their child's mischief.

"Meju Ghosts have poor eyesight and can only tell their friends apart by the smell of meju. If they find a house without meju hanging from their doors, they swoop in and devour everyone within it!"
