Heungnyemun Gate

It serves as the middle gate connecting Geunjeongmun Gate, the main gate of the Throne Hall, with Gwanghwamun Gate, the main gate of the royal palace. From this point, one must pass through the strict inspection of the royal guards to enter inside. Before meeting the king, officials would often take a moment to check their attire and appearance as they passed through several gates.
