Enviable Chopping

At the Infirmary, children can start chopping firewood at a certain age. Even as boys, their arms often lack the strength to wield the axe effectively, so they resort to splitting the wood into smaller pieces. The younger children, not yet old enough to chop wood, envy those who can. However, once they try their hand at chopping, that envy melts away like snow in the sun.
