Description
As the king bowed and received the royal seal, an attendant spoke, "Now that thou hast received the seal, "tis only fitting that thou proceed to the main hall and assume thy rightful place."
Then, the queen dowager said, "At first, I intended to pass it on quietly, with due respect, but I could not disregard the counsel of the ministers, hence this course of action."
She then addressed the king, "Dost thou know the crimes of the traitor? My own shortcomings have led to the neglect of my duties, causing the collapse of ethics and discipline, nearly bringing the nation to ruin. Yet, thanks to the loyalty of the ascending king, we have stabilized the royal house and avenged old grievances. How can such gratitude ever be repaid?"
Turning to the assembled ministers, she asked, "Where are the traitor and his prosperous kin now?"
They replied, "They are all within the palace."
The queen dowager declared, "Under the same sky, we cannot coexist with such an enemy. I have endured long enough. I wish to personally sever their heads and offer them to the spirits. For years, I have been confined, living only for this day. I yearn to exact my vengeance and settle this old score."
