Pinecone Fish

Covered head to tail in tough, pinecone-like scales, this creature glows beneath its belly at night to lure in plankton. By day, it keeps hidden among reefs and basalt rocks, deep between 50 and 200 m, but come nightfall, it drifts up closer to the surface.
