Neruda Shen Dialogue
It's true that the Barbarians have been stationed in Altinova.
And yes, I am aware they have been causing much trouble.
I would not have hired the Barbarians if I had any other choice.
We no longer have the military might of the Shroud Knights
to protect us, so we need to look for other means to safeguard Mediah.
Think about Mediah's current standing and our physical location.
Here we stand, a once prosperous kingdom growing anew from the ashes.
We have Calpheon to the west and the kingdom of Valencia to the east.
You speak of the old Kingdom of Mediah? Of tradition? Very well.
But you have to realize that if Mediah is to thrive, we must let go of tradition.
To relive the glory of our golden age, we must position ourselves among the great powers.
We need to establish a regime that isn't centered on tradition, but on trade.
We employed the Barbarians to further enhance the regime
and to safeguard the land from the possible military threats of both powers.
Times are changing though. The Shroud Knights, the Bareeds Dynasty...
We are turning our backs on the current political climate if we cling to the past.
I truly feel for the poor souls at the Abandoned Iron Mine
and fully appreciate that this is a problem that needs to be addressed.
I and the League of Merchants are
doing what's best for Mediah and its people.
I currently have a contingent of Barbarians
in my service as mercenaries. Please talk to them.
Neruda Shen Dialogue (Alt)
Most of my soldiers are stationed by the Barbarians.
Please talk to them to hear their opinion on the matter.
