The Child in the Shadows

Objective

My senses return and I find the green monster dead with the child crying next to her.
I'm confronted with a troubling decision. The child must be the daughter of the witch. She must die for all our sakes.
But my sword is kept tightly locked within its sheath. The child is without sin.
I give one of the two earrings I found on the dead green monster to the child. The child takes my offering with a scornful glare like no other. An ungainly encounter I will not soon forget.
A few days later, I take the child to a cave far from the village. I rummage through my belongings to craft some simple camping gear to shelter the child.
One day... she will come back to our world upon finding her way.
As I write this entry, I comfort myself with the thought that I had made the right decision.
I hope she is safe and I pray she comes back without any trouble.
