What is a sage? What qualities define a wise man? With these questions swirling in my mind, I began to turn the flask. The clear liquid reagent, now mingled with fox blood, swirled and raged within the glass. To think that the blood of a creature known for its cunning is used to create the essence of wisdom...

Could it be that this very trait, at certain moments, is what we deem wise? Fearful of testing it myself, I handed the concoction to my friend. As he gulped it down like a draft of ale, a pang of regret stirred within me. Yet, as he soon descended into incoherent babble, I couldn't help but silently commend my own caution.

I have much to learn before I can emulate Alustin's mastery in blood synthesis. Emptying my mind, I felt as though I had already touched the essence of a sage.
