The sudden departure wrought much confusion to me and it took me quite some time to forget everything about my uncle.

The items he had given me collected dust in storage and I did not touch alchemy for a while, for I feared memories of my uncle would return if I did not do so.

Five years later was when I finally returned to those items. My beloved wife, Rona, had fallen ill to an unknown sickness.

I poured all my resources, desperate to save her. I even tried dabbling once more in the alchemy my uncle had taught me,

but my hands lacked the practice and things didn't work as they used to. I was barely able to whip up an elixir to soothe her pain,

and I could not stop her from leaving my side. With grief and pain as if the heavens were crashing down,

I was tidying her things when I came upon the items my uncle had given to me by chance. I opened up the scroll and read its contents out loud.
