Before the rise of the republic, Guy Seric was the last king of Calpheon.
He rose to the throne at a young age after his predecessor,
King Dahad Seric passed during the Valencia Expedition to conquer the Black Desert.
Dahad Seric... was a king who sought to restore order
after the Black Death NPC Knowledge Item had nearly erased half of humanity,
despite the ridicule of the priests.
He promised wages to the lower class,
established an alliance with Serendia,
spent his entire life in war against Valencia,
only to be swept away by the desert sandstorms.
All would grovel at his feet, kissing the palm of his hands,
and yet, they all talked behind his back.
It was because he sought to make Calpheon the nation none would dare cross,
but did not spare any means to achieve this...
As the expedition dragged on without an end in sight,
one day he simply vanished, perhaps in search of a mightier army...

I feared his reveal of the secret existence of the princess
would shake the entire kingdom down to its core!
There must've been a reason for it to be a secret...
And yet, he never returned, and the faceless princess
never came to me with the king's key.
Nevertheless, as the chairman of the Bank of Hope, I vowed to fulfill my oath as its keeper
until the rightful owner of the chest returns.
And thus, we are here, at this fateful moment.
