It's just my opinion, but I think Votudig NPC Knowledge's father might be a great person, but not a great father.
He looks okay, but I know he's lonely.
That's why he keeps studying... especially plants.
He doesn't like fish, and he hardly goes to the pier.
He is unconsciously trying to avoid the sea.
Maybe he is trying to be a different person than his father?
