So you read the book Sailing the Life.
It's a great read about everything sea and sailing.
It's just my opinion, but I think Votudig's father might be a great person, but not a great father.
He looks okay, but I know he's lonely.
That's why he keeps studying... especially plants.
He doesn't like fish, and he hardly goes to the pier.
He is unconsciously trying to avoid the sea.
Maybe he is trying to be a different person than his father?
