As I was preparing to flee Velia, I ran into a little boy at the inn.

He was a descendant of the royal House Bartali, who became a commoner after Calpheon conquered Balenos.

The boy burst into tears staring at the inn which was reduced to ashes by the fire. I gave him what little money and possessions I could spare, and my condolences.

After that awkward encounter between a commoner who became a noble, and a royalty who became a commoner, I left Velia in a hurry.

Lehard won't make the mistake twice. The next time he might very well succeed. I promised myself not to let my guard down again.
