Calpheon seemed peaceful, but it was changing quickly. Lehard gained much power outside the Elionian church and became powerful enough to be involved in state affairs. Rumor had it that he was even involved in deciding the successor to the throne.

Of course, behind his success was the support from our family. We worked alongside Lehard and made our way up the social ladder.

We were a lowly merchant family, but before we knew it, we became one of the most notable and prestigious families in Calpheon.

The higher we climbed, the scarier it was to look down. The fall seemed dreadful and our days were filled with worries. The irony was that, Lehard and House Encarotia needed each other, but at the same time, we wished for each other to vanish from this world.

This uncomfortable companionship didn't last long, as Gordon Encarotia disappeared into thin air, without a word. There were reports that they last saw Gordon drunk and walking next to the river...
