To cross the desert, you need a special mark that only merchants can recognize.
There are two ways to acquire that mark.
One is to find Ashim at Ibellab Oasis and help the merchants to receive Marzana's mark.
The other is from Samaya, the node manager of Pilgrim's Sanctum: Sharing.
However, they won't give the mark to just any novice trader.
You must be at least an Artisan Trader for them to consider talking to you.
Also remember, Samaya's mark is worth more than Marzana's mark
but his standards are a lot higher when it comes to judging the trader's skills.
Neither method is easy, but a trader has got to do 
what they got to do in order to make profit, right?
