Listen in on their conversation.

*Hic* What a cruel fate.
It's like... the Mountain of Eternal Winter, where they're born, right?
Think about it, yeah... This world is so, like, beautiful, and yet...
The first thing they encounter at birth is the freezing cold... *Hic*
Cut off from everything, only to fulfill the revelations
of the ancient dragon Labreska, the one they call Omua...
Apparently... they're looking for some spirit... Don't you, like, feel sorry for them?
They willingly let themselves to fall into some pit of darkness...
And for ages, and ages, and ages... they remained steadfast and loyal. *Hic*
Even when returning after many seasons... the Zvier Highlands and Everfrost remain the same.

Quest Walkthrough
Step 1
Quest Text You hear people sharing stories and tales,
but nobody notices you as they all seem pretty drunk.
Step 2
Objective Listen in on their conversation.
Summary *Hic* What a cruel fate.
Step 3
That same old spiel again?
Ugh... I'm sick and tired of that story! I don't like it at all!
Step 4
Objective Listen to the Drieghanese soldier's tale.
Summary I don't know! It's just a story I heard when I was a child!
Something about the nameless Sherekhan... What a disgrace!
They knew of the suffering that these lands had endured! Ugh! My head hurts just thinking about it!
Anyway, all the folk round my way are hush-hush about it.
Tsk, tsk... You're almost at your limit, aren't you? What does it matter to you anyway?
The tale of the nameless Sherekhan may be fiction for all we know.
The Sherekhan who existed long before the Chenga Sherekhan NPC Knowledge?
Logically speaking, the tale's probably been greatly exaggerated!
There's no way our forefathers were friendly with those accursed dragons!
Step 5
It's all... tales of long ago...
Old stories to excite and provoke...
Step 6
Objective Quietly continue to listen.
Summary Want to hear an interesting tale?
Long... long ago, there was some god.
An ancient god who was known to grant wishes.
Without prejudice, this god granted each and every wish,
especially those wishes which contradicted each other and threw the world into chaos.
Wishes fueled by desperation soon burst with greed,
eventually turning this world into one of avarice.
The ancient god came to be known as the evil god of corruption.
The other gods granted a flame to consume the evil god, but what do you know!
A greedy ancient dragon swallowed it whole! Hahaha!
Goes to show how nothing in this world is easy. Don't you think so?
The flame given to cleanse this world of corruption...
once claimed by the dragon, it allowed her to challenge the gods themselves.
Well, 'tis just a tale of old. We don't know what's true and what's not.
And yet... If the flame truly exists...
The fate of this world would be determined by those who seize it...
Step 7
All of this is quite a lot to take in.
How much of this is actually true?
Step 8
If we don't tend to the brazier properly,
it won't matter how many guardians return...
None shall be able to rekindle the embers
of the Ynix's holy flame...
Step 9
Objective The old man snorts, "All this... for love..."
Summary The forsaken Human and witch sought out the God of Hope
to recover the power and wisdom lost to the Six Witches.
That very god told them to bring back the Ynix from Everfrost,
and, *sigh*...
This choice, discarding her power and authority, her identity as a witch,
and even turning her back on those Humans she was once so fond of, made all for love...
However, the Human who climbed Everfrost in search of the Ynix
found his heart stolen by Labreska, who was living out her second life... *tsk*
Having lost all of her power,
that Human was all poor Erethea had left...
To have fallen in love with the witch
who had been birthed from Labreska's first death,
only to fall in love with the progenitor who gave birth
to that very witch in the first place... such a sick twist of fate.
In the end, the witch chose death,
but not in the peaceful manner most desire.
She entered the den of Dragons by herself,
filled with rage, and cried out to them.
Step 10
That doesn't make sense... even if she was forsaken by the others...
The Dragons would've torn her to shreds... Why would she choose such an end?
Step 11
Objective "A much deserved... punishment... for she had sinned..." the old man responds testily.
Summary Erethea engaged in the forbidden act
of falling in love with a Human.
Enraged, the other Six Witches
reclaimed the wisdom of erasure bestowed unto my ancestors by the Seventh.
Henceforth, we were forever cursed
to be plagued with the fear of Dragons,
and records say that the Six Witches killed Erethea themselves,
stripping her of her own power as well.
However... there was something the Six Witches greatly underestimated,
and that was the very power of the Seventh Witch itself.
Right before they dealt the finishing blow, she used the last remaining portion of her power
to make the other witches forget about that moment, barely escaping with her life.
My forefathers of ages past claim that they saw her,
less her powers, of course, battered and bruised,
captured in the very den of the Dragons
who still hid beneath the golden mount's shadow...
She sought out these Dragons,
hiding in the darkness and doomed to keep their wings furled for eternity.
By her hand, countless Dragonkind had fallen,
and yet, in her wretched state,
she walked right into that den,
filled with those she had forced into hiding!
Step 12
Come now... If the witches actually had bestowed their wisdom to our ancestors...
Why does everyone here shiver at the mere mention of Dragons?!
Step 13
Objective The old man rambles on, "Our ancestor had been dragged into the fearsome den of Dragons..."
Summary Labreska, the tyrant who ruled over the Dragonkin
with a claw honed tight around their hearts.
The other Dragons lived in hiding, away from Labreska,
beneath the eclipsing shadow of the golden mountain.
Even after Labreska experienced her first death,
losing her wings as penance for challenging
the authority of gods with the Ynix,
the dark age of Dragonkind did not wane...
The Seven Witches born from Labreska's first death
bore the "seven gifts of wisdom to slay Dragons"...
Of those, the most unique power
belonged to the Seventh Witch, Erethea.
For hers was the wisdom
to "erase the fear of Dragons."
Step 14
Is this the old denizen Leon mentioned?
Let's listen in on what he has to say.
Step 15
Objective You look around.
Summary She was here, you know it...
but no longer, it seems.
And yet, you hear someone speaking of Everfrost...
And the name... "Erethea."
Step 16
The foul stench of the tyrant Labreska fills the air. You wince instinctively.
Though you may have lost your memories, it appears your body had not.
