Description
Many vassals spoke in unison, saying, "From ancient times, a deposed king hath ne'er been discussed with such impudence. The decree thou hast issued is something we cannot bear to hear."
Deokhyeong added, "The bond betwixt a mother and her son is unbreakable, ordained by the heavens. E'en if a son be unfilial, a mother cannot help but love him. This decree is not only unbearable to hear but also impossible to obey."
Then, the queen dowager declared, "If I proceed to the throne room with the ascending king, I shall cleanse my heart of vengeance. If the ascending king claimeth the throne and avengeth me, it would be an act of filial piety."
The king responded, "With all the officials present, how can I act on mine own accord?"
The queen dowager retorted, "The ascending king is already of age. Why shouldst thou heed the commands of the officials?"
Deokhyeong pleaded, "The ascending king hath entered the palace, and dawn is breaking. Yet, Your Majesty hath not ascended the throne. The generals and the people are all worried. Please, hasten outside."
