Description
The queen dowager declared, "A parent's enemy cannot live under the same sky, and a sibling's enemy cannot live in the same country. Since the traitor hath severed the filial bond, I must avenge this grudge without forgiveness."
Deokhyeong advised, "The traitors are scattered outside the palace, and unexpected rebellions may arise. Thou must quickly ascend the throne, issue decrees, and promptly capture and punish them."
The queen dowager responded, "The annex was where the late king conducted affairs. I have had it cleaned by the palace attendants."
The king then rose, bowed, and withdrew to the annex to ascend the throne and work through the night. His closest staff and officials, armed with swords, stood guard.
King Jeongmyeong stayed in the apothecary, and the deposed crown prince was confined to command headquarters, guarded by soldiers, with the Saongwon providing food.
The 12 offices, including construction, ceremonial, and armory departments, were abolished, and the Royal Investigation Bureau and Detention Center were opened to release all prisoners.
At that time, many of Kim Dohong's followers had fled and hidden, so soldiers were dispatched to search and arrest them. Additionally, those who sought to escape punishment by confessing were all bound and detained.
