Objective
The results of Martha Kiyen NPC Knowledge's investigation of the contraptions all over the place shows that all of them are connected to a source under the ground. However, Martha Kiyen cannot enter the cave because of the Calpheon soldiers blocking it. Talk to the guard stationed at the entrance to the cave.

Now it all makes sense! The source of energy reverberating in the ruins
is connected to a certain point underground.
The core you brought back confirmed my hypothesis.
Unfortunately, I cannot enter the underground cave.
No one who's gone has come back the same.
This is why Calpheon soldiers began preventing anyone from entering.
You might be able to though.
After all, you did destroy those ancient weapons with ease.
I will let the guards know
