the last passages of Francesca Seric's journal.
"Axian, the King of the Dead"
There seems to be more written about her tales.
...its former ruler, Illezra the witch,
paid a visit to these lands.
She asked if I was yet to obtain the thorn.
I couldn't tell if she was scoffing or genuinely concerned.
True, we could have parted ways in a better manner
after our journeys in the desert...
But in all honesty, she had used me for her own interests.
In return, I had acquired the thorn and an altar to summon Axian.

The story of Francesca Seric continues.

Illezra read the records of Orzeca and came to believe that
Thorn of Quturan was the power of the goddess.
Axian had passed away
but Illezra said she saw him at death's doors.
Cursed by the vengeful spirits and unable to rest in peace,
he ruled the land of the dead in a twisted form.
She said I was the only one who could save him.
Not as of this moment, but after I've embraced the Thorn of Quturan.
...I do not trust the words of Illezra.
I shall not trust anyone until I take back the throne that is rightfully mine.
Nevertheless, she treated me differently from the other mercenaries.
I once asked her why she showed such kindness and honesty.
She said it was pity... as a fellow witch and as a victim who understands
what it's like to be considered a blight of this cruel age...
But I am no witch. I am the heir to the Kingdom of Calpheon.
I remember the curses that were thrown at me when I came back to Calpheon,
returning from the godforsaken expedition that disappeared with the sands.
"The monster that carries the blood of a vile witch"
That night, I realized that their reverence and loyalty
were all but callous lies.
