Chapter 6: Foreboding Rumor
The news of the king's passing had plunged Seoul into turmoil. Amidst this chaos, strange rumors began to spread among the people. Normally, the crown prince would ascend the throne, and the king's funeral would be held, but even that was delayed, and the funeral was hastily conducted, with many oddities.
In the Seoul marketplace, the traveler and Dolswe NPC Knowledge stumbled upon a peculiar bulletin. The bulletin claimed that the crown prince was an impostor. It alleged that the late king was the son of a palace maid, not the queen. So, who should ascend the throne? It couldn't be... the son of the deposed tyrant from the past? But that wasn't all. Someone claimed to have seen the king's body as black as ink, with blood pouring from every orifice. Foreboding rumors were swirling around Seoul.
Mongryong couldn't just stand by and watch the people become unsettled, so he went to the Royal Investigation Bureau to request an inquiry into who was spreading these bizarre rumors. However, the Royal Investigation Bureau instead arrested Mongryong, who had walked in on his own. They falsely accused Mongryong of accepting bribes. The traveler could only watch as Mongryong was taken away. To find someone who could help, they sought out Mihyun, who was staying somewhere in Seoul.
