Objective
Chapter 7: At Tenebraum's End
"Watch closely, Edana. Are you not curious? Let me show you the power that lies within Orwen. The blood of Caphras NPC Knowledge, and the talent of Cartian NPC Knowledge—The best of both worlds... running through her veins."
In that moment, Cartian's eyes seemed to search blindly in the void, as if clawing for meaning in utter darkness. I had no choice but to fight her.
"Perhaps what I found was not salvation, but the abyss nestled within the dark. Orwen... I... I—"
Cartian's words faded, her form crumbling into nothingness before me.
"Saving the world...? And that only happens if I die? Why is it always me?"
Orwen fell silent, the weight of shock pressing down upon her. No words could capture the depth of her pain. In Cartian's final journal, she wrote of Tarif's failure—of her plan to transfer her very mind into Orwen, and the whispered schemes of the Black Spirits.
Who could have imagined she would use her own daughter in a quest for godhood? What drove her to such desperate ends? Unmatched brilliance? Caphras himself?
"If I could become a demigod—stand beside Caphras as his equal... Would that finally be enough?"
Even as Caphras prepared to leave her—or perhaps, even as death approached—Cartian's love endured. And yet, as much as she loved, so too did she hate. To stand beside him, she peered into the abyss... only to be devoured by the darkness she sought to master.
"Let the pain of old memories fade away in this place."
No matter how tragic their tale, I cannot stop here. The journey to claim the throne of Edana continues. Time will not wait for me.
