Chapter 6: Serpent Skin

The satto sought out the old Birigongdeok couple's house. He found a way to make the old couple leave and searched the house. But the satto did not find the Water of Life. Instead, he found the serpent skin in a jangdok in their home.

The satto offered the serpent skin to the Yeongam. Bari had no other choice than to show herself, because the serpent skin was her lifeline. However, the Water of Life was no longer of importance to the two.

"What good is a long life, if it's no better than a short one?"

What did the two sattos ask of Bari in return for the serpent skin?

A terrifying rumor spread through Donghae Province not long after. Anyone who got on the wrong side of the sattos would die quickly. Perhaps a curse had fallen upon them all. Who'd dare mess with the register of the underworld? And where could Bari possibly have disappeared to?
