Chapter 1: The Maiden and the Woodcutter
A woodcutter named Park Jangswe NPC Knowledge lived in Solgaji Forest in the Land of the Morning Light. One day, the woodcutter went to Mount Ahshi to cut down some trees. It was the mysterious mountain where Bonghwang lay deep in slumber.
But when the sun set, the woodcutter got lost in the shadows of the forest. At that exact moment, a maiden appeared in front of the exhausted woodcutter. The moment they locked eyes, they immediately fell in love.
The maiden's name was Ogu and she worshipped the slumbering Bonghwang. Perhaps it was divine punishment for this forbidden love between human and celestial maiden... But in time, Maiden Ogu gave birth to a serpent, the predator and mortal enemy of all birds.
Not long after, Maiden Ogu was exiled from Mount Ahshi, never to return. This was because serpents were forbidden in the mountain where they worshipped Bonghwang. Once she became human, the celestial maiden grew more and more ill over time. Seeing his wife so ill, Park Jangswe, the woodcutter, was determined to get rid of the cause.
The woodcutter threw the serpent far over the falls. He couldn't bear to watch it slowly eating away its mother's life force.
