Chapter 5: An Unrefusable Offer

The dilemma that Siwon faced after receiving Prime Minister Jang Daeseung NPC Knowledge's proposal did not linger long. It was the Black Stone NPC Knowledge Item that the Prime Minister had handed to Siwon that captivated him. The deep and mysterious energy of the stone soon enchanted Siwon. Following the Prime Minister's instructions, Siwon presented the trinket to Chunhyang. Though he worried about potential repercussions, aside from the occasional visit from Prime Minister Jang's men to check on the situation, nothing significant occurred. Siwon felt a sense of relief.

"By royal decree, Seong Siwon is appointed as Minister of Treasury."

The edict was proclaimed. Siwon ascended to the coveted position of Minister, a dream come true. No longer would he endure the whispers of those who claimed he brought shame to his ancestors by not advancing in his career. The days of enduring the disdain of holding a rank lower than his son-in-law were over. Siwon felt as though he had achieved everything he had ever dreamed of.

But happiness was fleeting. In the end, the Black Stone he had given to Chunhyang would bring nothing but misfortune to Siwon.
