Chapter 7: The Tragedy of the Flower-sunken Swamp
The ruffian with Bae Muryong shot an arrow at Dolswe NPC Knowledge. Fortunately, there was a dead rabbit nearby, so he wasn't discovered, but Dolswe fell with an arrow in his arm. Luckily, the woman he saw in the forest earlier approached and offered help.
She was Janghwa, the twin sister of Hongryeon. Janghwa immediately recognized the arrow in Dolswe's arm as a poisoned one, and with the traveler, she made an antidote to treat Dolswe. Then she shared her story with the traveler and Dolswe. She barely escaped alone because her father, Bae Muryong, tried to kill them. In return for Janghwa's help, the traveler and Dolswe decided to rescue Hongryeon from the First Deputy Minister's house.
They successfully brought Hongryeon out and reunited her with Janghwa. But then... Hongryeon suddenly vanished right before their eyes. Hongryeon was, in fact, no longer of this world. Janghwa had somewhat expected it, but seeing it with her own eyes made it harder to believe. As she wept in sorrow... Bae Muryong appeared.
Bae Muryong revealed the secret of their birth to Janghwa. He wasn't their biological father, which is why he mistreated the twins. He had married Janghwa and Hongryeon's mother, who had conceived them as a maiden. Their mother was the daughter of a powerful family, and he was promised a high position. But when her family fell, Bae Muryong coldly abandoned the three.
Learning the truth, Janghwa felt as if her world was collapsing.
"Curse you...! Even in death... I... shall curse you!"
Janghwa threw herself into the Flower-sunken Swamp.
