Chapter 2: The Ancient Slate

No sooner had we set foot in Zephyros than a colossal fortress rose before us, its presence utterly overwhelming—far surpassing any bastion I had glimpsed in Edania.

As we drew near the gate, a lone man rapped upon its doors. For a fleeting moment NPC Item, it seemed as though the gates would yield. But then, without warning, a grotesque hand burst forth from the darkness within, seizing the man and dragging him into the void.

"Like at the doors of Alyaelli ten years back!"

Suddenly, creatures of nightmare surged from the shadows, assailing us with unbridled fury. The expedition before us claimed the gate had never attacked them—perhaps it sensed our intent to claim the throne of Zephyros NPC Knowledge. With the way sealed, we turned our attention to the Ancient traces scattered about the grounds.

Drawing closer to the site where the slates were said to rest, we found only broken wreckage—a slate taken, no doubt, by Jordine NPC Knowledge. Of the five, only four remained. As Lafi recited the inscriptions, it became clear: each slate bore secrets distinct from those within the Ancient Stone Chamber.
