Chapter 8: Usurpation

Caphras NPC Knowledge sealed Orwen within an artifact and sent Goyen away to parts unknown. He declared that only I was worthy to stand here... He spoke, too, of the <b>key</b> Cartian NPC Knowledge once mentioned—a mystery, but my purpose was clear. Now was the time to challenge Caphras.

"Do you dare defy the coming end? Very well, I will allow your foolish challenge."

We clashed, the fate of worlds hanging in the balance. In the moment his blade slipped from his grasp, I called upon the Black Spirit NPC Knowledge's power and struck with all my might. Yet Caphras did not fall. "Mortals can do nothing in the face of certain annihilation," he intoned, cold and unyielding.

Then, as if summoned by his will, a familiar artifact rose into view—the Heart of Atomagia.

"Even the gods of this world... kneel before Her. Now, embrace despair."

Could it be? Not only Elion, but all the gods had succumbed to Hadum's corruption? Just then, Illezra's staff pierced the Heart of Atomagia. From it, a torrent of dark power spilled forth, flooding into me.

With strength beyond reckoning—dark and terrible—I unleashed one final, mighty blow. At last, Caphras was defeated.
